Here’s Waldi on Day 3 of post-op (yesterday). Still doing about the same but they put him on Valium to get him more relaxed in the hopes that he would try to pee on his own. He was very woozy as a result, but seemed more comfortable, so we don’t mind. :) We are going to visit him again in a few minutes, and if all goes well — meaning that if we can pass the “test” and prove to the doctor that we can insert his urinary catheter on our own — he’ll finally be coming home today!
If you have the means to give and are interested in doing so, we have started a fundraiser for Waldi HERE. His surgery was incredibly expensive and we are both underemployed. (My partner doesn’t have a job and I only work 8-15 hours a week for minimum wage.) We are trying to raise $1,000 which is a very small fraction of what his surgery and treatment will wind up costing us. We appreciate any help we can get, including promotion of this fundraiser to others who may be feeling generous.
I don’t want anybody to feel pressured to donate if they do not have the means. Believe me, I completely understand. Emotional support means just as much right now. I’d really like to thank the Dachshund community on Tumblr for being so sweet and caring during this very difficult time. Waldi and his mommies thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! <3
Poor little sausage.
